Default Copy plugin settings apply to bypass state?

Hi
I feel like this works different every time i try it. If i command shift c to copy plugin settings to paste does that apply to a bypass state? Usual workflow is me copying eq settings of pro q and then highlighting an area further down the timeline (to extend my eq settings that i had further down the timeline), pasting it and then writing to selection. My eqs are never really bypassed so it doesnt come into play but when i do the same process with voice denoise (which i typically have bypassed) to again extend the processing, everything is pasted but its still bypassed if that makes sense.

No bypass is not included in copying plugin settings. One of the mysteries of PT's development history.

Really? I just tried it in Ultimate 2024.6 and it worked. I used ProQ3. I had one setting written to Clip1. I had Clip2 with differnt EQ settings AND Bypassed. I went to Clip1, Copy Special/Plug-in Automation. Then went to Clip2 and Paste Special/Repeat to Fill Selection. Boom. Clip2 now has the same settings as Clip1, including Bypass.

By the way, I don't work this way. For this, I use Automation Preview. Then I either go back to Clip1 and select Copy in the Plugin (to capture the settings I want) then go to Clip2 and paste, then "Write Automation to Selection" (usually with the button on my controller). Or, just go to Clip2 and pull up my Saved Preset Called "Clip1", then "Write Automation to Selection" (usually with the button on my controller). This always writes Bypass Automation if it is changed.

Right, "Copy Special > Plugin Automation" works because its copying the automation data. But "Copy Plugin Settings" (SHIFT-CMD-C) and pasting does not. Even though it is a plugin state and automatable parameter. Or maybe this depends on the plugin, you have me second guessing ha.

EDIT: OK thinking about it maybe it does depend on automation? I know I've had to manually press bypass...

what ive experienced is that when i command shift v (paste) the plugin settings i want to the new clip, it DOES change the bypass state to the state that it was in when i copied the plugin settings. Its after i write to selection and click from say clip 1 (where i copied the settings) to clip 2 (where i pasted settings) the bypass state isnt changed. IME its like something isnt happening during the 'write to selection' command not neccessarily in the copying and pasting of plugin settings if that makes sense.

Is bypass automation enabled on the plugin itself? Some plugins don't turn this on even if you have "plugin controls default to auto enabled" ticked in preferences.
