Default 6 core Mac Pro due next Tuesday?

Ran into some news I thought I'd pass along to the group here: We may be really close to the hexacore (aka 6 core) Mac Pros. According to a story over on MacRumors.com that references a story on ZDNet.com the new machines are due Tuesday March 16. Here's a link to the MacRumors site and also a link to the ZDNet site stories:

I've been following these rumors like a bloodhound. I have a Google Alert set up for "Mac Pro Gulftown;" for the past few weeks it's been only one or two hits, and today there were fourteen!

My only question is, how long will it take for Digidesign to approve the new machines? They were pretty fast with the Nahalem's as I recall (much faster than they were with Snow Leopard).

Can't remember where I saw it, but at some point they decided to keep it as a high end i7 instead of branding it as i9.

It's the same chip with 2 extra cores - not a new architecture. Compatibility shouldn't be a issue unless Apple changes the chipset.

I sure hope they finally give it 6 RAM slots instead of 4. Funny that my $800 dell i7 has 6, while a quad mac pro only has 4.
