Default No search in Reference Guide ?

Hi,
Am I stupid or there is no search function in the pdf reader included in the Protools help menu ?
Very annoying as I hate online "help" menus
I allways keep handy a desktop shortcut for the Reference Guide so that I can open it with the adobe reader and search for whatever I want, but it would be simpler it that was available in the menu

Yes, there is help - once you've launched the guide (based on the version you are using) on the left hand side there are 3 tabs - Contents, Index and Search.

I prefer to use the Reference Guide on the Desktop - once Preview has indexed it once, the search is pretty fast. The first time you search a file in Preview the CPU hits 100%, so best to do it while nothing else is running.

I totally agree.
The 'built in' reference guide is terrible. Search function is there, but doesn't work. Scrolling is choppy. It's a disaster.

You're not stupid - there's no search function in the free Adobe PDF reader; doesn't matter if the doc is from Avid or anyone else.

On Windows with the free Adobe Reader DC, Ctrl+F brings up a search box. I have no issues searching or scrolling any PDF.

Going on what you wrote I tried different key combos and found that on a Mac cmd+F brings up the 'find' box. Dummy me was looking for 'search' and didn't think to look for 'find' in a menu - and there it was/is.

OK lets back up here and clarify in The PT toolbar "Help" dropdown there is
#1 Pro Tools Help
#2 Pro Tools Reverence Guide

. (Note the "Search" function is actually available in both) .....and they both work.....(how well they work is a different discussion

In "Pro Tools Help" as domicperry mentioned open it up and it is in the left column (right hand one of the three tabs

In "Pro Tools Reference Guide open it up and in the top tool bar far right
The little square tab icon with the right facing arrow,,,, click that...

And this will open,,,, again far right (hard to see in dark mode is the magnifying glass icon and the word "Search" type in that

On my system when I select Reference guide in the help menu it doesn't open up the pdf in preview app, instead it opens up the terribly designed 'help center' called 'pro tools online', PT is still the active application. I think it stinks. But, as mentioned the far right symbol w/arrow opens the ref guide in Preview.app.

All well and good IF your system is online.

Doesn't the Adobe crap have Table of Contents feature? That is what I use for searching, much nicer than jump from one hit to another.
