iOS monitor control for MTRX

Frustrated by not being able to select sources and outputs for my MTRX via the Dock, I wrote an iOS app. It’s free, completely unsupported by myself, Avid or DAD, and you can find it here:

NB: DADman 5.2 or higher required. Configure it as you would a hardware MOM.

(BTW, I probably would not have named the app that as DAD could have an issue and any other name would have worked. There's a chance your app will get booted from the store because of that.)

True, I’m totally happy to change the name if they’ve an issue. I’m sure I can think of another punny acronym! Maybe Monitor Utility Module

I believe that Pro Tools | Control will support monitor source and output selection eventually (via EuCon, which DADman supports). It does already support volume and cut.

The MOM hardware or software remotes are complementary as you can have many of them (each with multiple layers), assigned to different sources and outputs.

A few tips:

• You can set custom names for sources and outputs in Settings
• The app works most reliably when the iOS device and DADman are on the same subnet, however there is some support for separate subnets; this requires a DADman host to be specified in settings
• Swipe left to advance layers (unfortunately due to a protocol limitation it’s not possible to swipe right)
• Again owing to a limitation in the protocol spoken by DADman, it’s not possible to see gains below -40dB. They can be set, however.
• Talkback switch is latching if pressed briefly, momentary if not
• You can rename the MOM device and/or change its device ID from with DADman.
• DADman can sometimes take a moment to reconnect, particularly if the app has been offline for some time. You can prevent your device from going to sleep when MOM is active by enabling Disable Idle Timer in its settings.
