De Authorization from Floppy?
We tried to de-authorize our ProTools because we were replacing our Main system drive. We inserted the ProTools5 authorization disk into Superdisk drive on our G3 double clicked the de-authorize file from the floppy and 'nothing' happened. We tried this several times and 'nothing happens. The file looks like it is trying to boot and never does. THen we get a message something about this computer does not allow for floppy authorizations or something like that. Yet we authorized our ProTools5 using the same superdisk with the same G3.

Re: De Authorization from Floppy?
It's possible that another installer application run after you had previously used the SuperDisk replaced the newer extensions with older ones. Try going to the Misc. Files section of Downloads at http://www.digidesign.com/serv/ftpmaps/ptutil.html
Download and install the 2 USB extensions at the bottom of the page and see if that helps. ------------------ Bruce Paine eMarketing

Did you make any changes in your Extensions set? Make sure that USB floppy enabler and USB SuperDisk drivers are installed and active in the Extensions set. If they are installed and active and you are still having problems you should try updating to the latest Superdisk drivers. Here is the URL: http://www.superdisk.com/sc/sc_dl_um.html#1 Below is the post from superdisk.com Explains fixes, updates and requirements * NEW * USB Driver for Macintosh™ : We recommend Version 3.3a/b for the Imation USB SuperDisk™ drive. Version 3.3 enhancements include: Fixed problem with copy protected software with model SD-USB-M3, and SD-USB-U3 drives. (3.3) Added support for USB Suspend/Resume. (3.2) NOTE: Not all USB cables support USB Suspend/Resume. If your cable does not support suspend/resume then the drive will not wakeup. Using the 3.2 driver however prevents the computer from also not waking up. [All 1X cables and 2X cables though July 1999 do not support USB Suspend/Resume.] Provided merged driver support for additional USB SuperDisk drive variations.(3.2) Added code to avoid possible conflicts with Apple Mass Storage Support driver. (3.2) Added additional support for OS 9.0 (3.2) improved USB error handling, to minimize apparent hangs or non responses (2.0) improved operation with G3 B&W systems (2.0) improved DOS formatting of SuperDisk (2.0) better handling of disk changes (1.31) support for copy protected or digitally wrapped software and/or media. (1.2) Requires USB Floppy Enabler driver from PACE Anti-Piracy support for software installs using more than one floppy disk (1.1) elimination of several system related problems (1.2, 1.31) NOTE: USB drivers for the Macintosh no longer support Mac OS 8.1. The USB support in this version of OS can not be upgraded without also upgrading the OS. We recommend that the user upgrade to a minimum of Mac OS 8.6. Let us know if this helps Mj |
