Avid S7?

Hi Avid,

Can we see the release of an Avid S7 controller surface in the companies future plans as the Avid S6 is getting somewhat old.

Are you actually asking how to stop sales of their current system?
That would literally be what your question would result in if the/a S7 release wasn't imminent.

But besides that, the S6 is modular. It's literally built around the idea of replacing or adding components. Why do you think it is "old"? -- it's software driven and there's so much more to add to keep growing. A future console might only be replacing the main units (MCM/MTM) so those who've paid into the system don't lose a ton of money.

Yes, just wondering if Avid have any plans for this area on the S series system and allow users to move towards updating to newer components.

S6L is a staple in live production and I have heard nobody complaining it is old. The modular studio version likewise is just great, what is missing? 3D display for atmos panning?

From what I have heard from people who theoretically know, there are no plans any time soon for a new surface beyond S6. A new master module would not surprise me at all - they already did it once with the Universal master module that replaced the old one and works with S4. It’s a substantial upgrade.

Other than the 3D Atmos display on the Master Module, Display Modules and Joystick Module?

Obviously, I can't speak to what the future plans might be, but the S6 and EUCON are designed to be incremental, so unlikely a completely new S6 replacement...so instead of what if's...how about ideas on what hardware you could see as being useful in 2/5/10 years' time.
