Default digi 002 loud random static..help

hey i just bought a used digi 002...still learning....at random times when i record i get an extremely loud static sound....sometimes it shows up on tracks and sometimes it doesn't. when playing back, this never happens, unless the static is recorded to the track. i've tried different cables and mics and stripped down to only the computer, the digi 002 a mic and headphones. i assume the problem is either with the digi 002, itself, or my computer. the only other thought i have is that it might be a grounding issue with outlets...i've tried in a few separate locations and still had the same problem. any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum secretariot. Does the "static" sound like this in the video link of this post? What version of Pro Tools are you on?
