Importing a section of a song.
Hey guys
I have 2 versions of a song. One is finished but needs a different chorus added. The other has the chorus I want but thats it. I have selected the chorus, renamed it and imported it to the song I want it in but I can't seem to drag all of the files at once from the region screen to the edit screen. I can only drag one at a time. I'm sure there is a simple way of doing this but I don't know how. Hope you guys can help. Merry Christmas! Duane |

Re: Importing a section of a song.
Hi,
I'm pretty sure you can drag multiple files from the region screen to the edit window. I've done this with discrete drums (8 at a time). I believe the track order has to line up. You select all the tracks in the region window that you want to import at once, then drag and drop them. Others might be able to give more specific information. Thank you, John. |

Re: Importing a section of a song.
Never tried this but perhaps you could use the Import Audio command and select multiple tracks?

Re: Importing a section of a song.
Hi Duane,
I've been watching this, though unable to suggest a solution for you. I've been in this same situation, but always taken some alternative route to pasting multiple tracks to an existing session, all at once. Stiffy McP(love that name)sounds like he has the answer. But do me a favor, and post back whether it works for you, if you will. Thanks, Roy

Re: Importing a section of a song.
Hey guys.
I took me flippen ages to do it. I’m sure there is an easier way. I’ll try to explain what I did. I first made sure that my tracks were in the same order as the other session. I then renamed the regions I wanted to export eg q1 q2 q3 etc from the top to the bottom. I renamed each region so I knew which ones they were when I went in to the other session. Then I selected the regions in the region list and exported them to the audio files of the session I wanted them in. I then went in to the other session and imported the files from the regions list, highlighted the regions and dragged them on to the edit window. They were all over the place so I spotted them (I made a gap for where it was going to be spotted so I wouldn’t cover regions I needed). Then I placed the whole chorus by going by the recorded click. If I hadn’t of recorded a click I would of been Cactus for this whole recording!!!! For beginners out there, I would advise musicians to play to a pre recorded click. I think this makes editing a breeze. It is also a good guide. If anyone has an easier way please help others in my situation Happy new year everyone Duane |

Re: Importing a section of a song.
If you have multiple regions for the same track consolidate them into one region and that will make importing way easier.

Re: Importing a section of a song.
Sorry, I actually did consolidate selection. I forgot to mention it.
