Yes. Download the USB Floppy enabler software to allow PACE to work or else you'll freeze up while running the authorization programs.

snoopy,

Are you sure ?? i have the USB floppy enabler in the extension and it does not work at all. Actually when the Pace Floppy enabler is present the VST usb disk drive does not see any disk inserted in it. Without the Foppy enabler, at least, the VST disk drive recognize when you have a disk inserted BUT, it 's sort of useless because without the Floppy extension, you cannot authorise....HELP

I've managed to get a Teac USB drive to work, which is unsupported by Pace. DO NOT use the Pace floppy enabler, DO NOT use the floppy enabler on the Protools disk. I installed OS 9.0.4, then downloaded the Teac floppy enabler, installed them (against their instructions for OS 9) and everything worked. YMMV. A similar process may work for the VST floppy

Haven't dealt with this in about 8 months but I think Anthony's right. Best bet is to go To VST site and see what they have and ask them how to handle. If I remember correctly there were some VST floppies that would work with PACE and some that would not. You need either the model # or the serial # to determine if your floppy will work. I bought my floppy first which was a mistake because it was one of the models that was not supported. Also check the PACE site - I think that Newer technologies had a PACE compatible floppy, and like I said, my information is old so hopefully there are others which are compatible by now.

Good Luck

Bob

Floppy technology is dead. Put your money into a CD-RW. With 600MB, why are you waisting your time even thinking about floppy? Also, you need a burner to mix down to anyway.

In addition to the Imation SuperDisk, the Newer Tech U-Drive also supports PACE copy protection.

Unfortunatly some Digi products require a floppy drive to get Authorization codes.
I cannot get my Teac USB to work on authorizations at all. Sorry I am no help!

I recently purchased a Newertech uDrive from Outpost.com. It works fine with the Pace enabler on a Dual Processor G4. I went for the uDrive since Digi had it on the approved list and so did Pace.

Outpost had it overnight with free shipping.

I'm having a nightmare trying to install AMP FARM, and it must be the USB Floppy Drive I just got from Sweetwater. It's the VST, and as a poster already pointed out, you can't use the PACE Floppy extension, because it conflicts with the extension that comes with the VST. What a mess. Buy software, can't use it.

Any ideas???
