Default Error: “Access is denied. (5)” with PT 2021.7 and 202.11

I’ve tried installing Pro Tools 2021.7 and 202.11 on one of my Windows systems (Win10 Pro 20H2) but when I go to run Pro Tools I get the error “Access is denied. (5)”. The only fix I can find on the DUC is to setup Pro Tools to 'Run as Administrator’. This fixes the issue, but then I also need to setup all other apps that send keystrokes to Pro Tools to 'Run as Administrator’ - e.g. my app EdiCue. Does anyone have any more info on why Pro Tools is reporting the error “Access is denied. (5)” or how I might go about fixing this? Before I install a different version of PT I un-install the current version first.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Find the Pro Tools executable, right click on it and select Properties. From the properties dialog, select the Security tab then press the Advanced button near the bottom of the dialog. In the security dialog, near the top, check who the Owner is set to. Make sure that account has access to the files and folders PT is using. That last part is the tricky part as I don't know which object it is actually being denied access to.

Owner of ProTools.exe is SYSTEM. I'm not really up for checking the permissions of hundreds of files to check that SYSTEM has full control so I'll just keep PT setup to 'Run As Admin'. Good to know and thanks for the info.
