Default Re: Problems with PTLE? Post your configuration here..

Purchased & installed 7.0... Also downloaded SP2 (I never thought it was stable) The 7.0 program is freezing at "Creating DAE.." (Not Reponding) in Task manager. I managed to launch & run the applicaion maybe twice at first.... other than that I have not been able to successfully launch 7.0 for 2 1/2 days. I have tried the recent updates 7.1 & 7.1cs to no avail. BTW - I have been successfully running 6 - 6.9 for 2 years with NO problems with the same config w/ the exception of a new 250GB SATA drive named Record2 (K:) Recording (D:) was always my drive for song files. Also, I did not delete digidesign dbs & DAE prefs in each drive for fear I was going to lose songs on drives. I actually ran the program with HTT enabled but disabled it when the program began to freeze (I actually bought 7.0 to utilize my HTT) I was beter off w/ 6.9 & SP1 A bit after I loaded 7.0 Windows media upgraded to 10.0 I was curious if that may have screwd things up?!? Please help.

Lesbrunn,
best boot from a WXP cdrom and install your OS from scratch. Followed by the cdrom that you may have received from your motherboard, the patches that make your OS recognize your mobo + hardware.

No Ghost boot cd's is my credo, for what it's worth. Plain WXP w/SPI should be fine if you're running DIGI 001 + PTLE 6.1.

Good luck,

Walther.

Hi,

I am running ProTools 6.9 on a new computer, with a Digi002 (rack version). I keep getting the error message saying to 'Increase/decrease the H/W buffer size', no matter what size I've selected. This happens constantly, but only during playback (I can record with no problems). PT's often crashes after this message comes up. Also, less frequntly I get the 'DAE error occurred' message. Sometimes the controls go funny as well (the mouse scroll wheel zooms in and out instead of scrolling up/down. When I hit play it says 'waiting for sync', and I can't select grabber/magnifying glass). The only other program I run is AKSYS for my akai sampler.

Here's my system info:

You don't use ghost installations from previous systems on your new A8N-system do you? Meaning a backup from an operating system (plus appz) that you made before. That'd be a no-go but I may be misunderstanding your question.

Hello voideco,

Yes, I did try that at the beginning. The solution was to load the images and then repair XP. Windows asks you for needed drivers, and fixes everything for the board to recognize your old installation.

However, I scrapped that after using it for about a month, and did a fresh installation of XP and SP1. The board still would'nt read certain boot packages, notably Ghost and Partition Magic. My main problem was to back up my new installation, but I've been able to do that now by making a Nero boot CD containing the Ghost files. I can only access them with DOS commands, though.

My other problem still stands unsolved:

I can't use PT with any drive connected to the Promise. I still get "PCI bus too busy..." Does'nt the A8NE fully support Promise IDE controllers, or could the problem be from PT6.1's inability to cope with dual cores?
(I assign it to one processor, yet get sudden system shutdowns when I open bombfactory plugins.) To make bombfactory work, I have to reassign PT to both processors, open the plugins and then go back to one processor!

Digi ETS,

Does PTLE 6.1 have a limitation on the number of plugins one can use? I've noticed that (for mono tracks) when the plugin list exceeds 256 items, everything scrolls back to the beginning of the list. In other words, clicking on the 257th item opens the 1st plugin on the list! This had me totally baffled for a week before I realised exactly what was happening. I had to remove less important ones. It does'nt happen with my stereo tracks because there are much fewer entries in that list.

Yes. This is (sort of) fixed in newer versions of the software.

I tried finding some info out in another post, but finally broke down and installed Sandra.

Dell Inspiron 9400 Laptop... brand new install of Protools 7.0 on xp pro sp2. All tips have been followed, all troubleshooting has been done. There are only 14 running processes running, so it is a very clean install with almost everything disabled. The Dual Core Fix made this machine a total nightmare, as did 7.1. (Did a fresh install of XP Pro SP2, downloaded all updates from microsoft, and streamlined again to get rid of it) I managed to get through davecII test 8 completely, but I cannot play any of my old sessions, even the small ones. (nothing happens when i hit play except for the cursor moving back a few frames)

I get dae error -6087, audio drive is a brand new Maxtor 250 gb 16mb cache in an Oxford 911 Firewire enclosure.

Quite often PT will not boot up on my first try. The computer starts it, hour glass moving, but all loading stops before any screens appear. Open the task manager, and protools is running, stuck at about 29000k ish, processor at 50% usage. Kill the process, and start protools again, and it will boot up fine. It just won't play any audio!

Anyway, I bought this laptop to get a bunch of work done, and so far I have been getting no sleep for 5 days trying to make it work. I can slap together a desktop machine in a couple hours, running PT flawlessly... have built several for other people over the years... but this thing is killing me!

Please help!!!!!

Default DAE error - 1115

Hi. I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop and have been struggling to get Protools 7.0 and my digi 002 working on it, but every time I try to open Protools I get the message "DAE error - 1115" and it shuts. I've been talking to support all week and tried the following things which haven't helped - updating PACE, turning things like multicore off in the bios, re-installing protools etc. Any other ideas?

Update... I switched my firewire 911/USB 2.0 drive over to USB, and seems to have solved my problem. As a matter of fact, so did just playing the sessions from my system drive... no problem playing back 32 tracks of audio lol go figure.

Anyone know if there is a problem with the combo oxford 911/USB enclosures? Should I buy a firewire only enclosure?

Most likely, your problem is the FW interface in your computer: FireWire/1394 Controller/Hub : OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller, and not the drive itself.
