Default Pro Tools 2022.7.0 SUCKS for midi editing!!

What gives with this new update guys?
I'm trying to write a song with this stupid program and every 5-10 minutes, it simply won't allow me to edit, select or change any midi notes! I have to constantly (" save => close session => reopen session") to edit midi notes. Every fricken 5 minutes!!!!! PLEASE FIX THIS STUPIDITY NOW!!!!!!

Avid unfortunately broke MIDI stuff in 2022.6. That release included a series of MIDI enhancements/fixes, which was great to see the intent/focus on MIDI but unfortunately the changes introduced other bugs, including those hitting you.

2022.7 was a relatively minor fix update to address a few bugs and some of the things in 2022.6.

You should be rolling back and trying 2022.5 or earlier.

I hope Avid keeps the focus on making more MIDI improvements even given the hiccup here.

Release notes can be helpful, see them linked from here: https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/articles/faq/en393795

Switching to sample mode instead of tick mode will allow you to edit your MIDI. This is the workaround that should enable you to use 22.7. until it's fixed. Or else roll back to 22.5.

Yeah, ran into this as well in Win 11 and latest PT rev. About 5 minutes into edits things go weird. I just started saving after every 20 edits or so. It has to be a short allocated buffer for edits that just fills up and causes unexpected behavior. Since I started periodic saving while midi editing, no lockups occur. Not the best work around but there it is.

I went to my account and attempted to download a previous version of Pro Tools. Everything is so switched around and confusing, I simply couldn't find "where" they put the downloads. If anyone has an idea of how to guide me through that mess, I would appreciate it. At the moment, stopping every 3-4 minutes to close and reopen sessions just to select and change midi notes is KILLING ME!!!!

Thanks for this tip! Until I figure out how/where to download old versions of Pro Tools from their new and incredibly confusing website, I'll try this.

Yep! Log into your account on Avid.com and click on the "Download Center" (not "My Products"). Old downloads should be there for you.
