Default Is Apple M1 Working Finally?

Looks like the latest update of PT has AVE and Native working.
I have been waiting to update my home setup to a M1 Mini.
Hopefully things are sorted.

Video Engine is working, but video hardware is not.

Not M1 Native. Via Rosetta 2. I’d wait for the next gen Mac Mini to come out although it does run solid on the M1 Mac mini the video engine take up a huge amount of Ram on the 16GB model. Almost 70% at times.

This will probably improve of course once a truly native version of Pro Tools is released.

Some have had great luck with those first gen M1 mac mini and mb pro on Big Sur. The new M1 Max/Pro Macbook Pro’s are a different story. Those are still very buggy, and for me at least, unusable. Avid stock plugins are working as are several 3rd party plugs, however many plugs I rely on from the Air First Bundle/Avid complete bundle like Pro Subharmonic, Limiter, even X-Form, aren't functional. I'm assuming this is due to Monterey not yet being supported.

Fully loaded M1 mac mini working well here. Avid Video Engine now working (under rosetta as is the rest of the software) and video hardware not supported.

I assume video hardware stays unsupported until Avid releases Apple Silicon native PT software. With Monterey just released, we may still see at least one Intel build; though I would love to be wrong on this.

Nevertheless I am guessing biggest new feature of 2022.x is native Apple Silicon support with video hardware. Compatibility-wise, I expect Mojave is to be dropped but Catalina is kept for now.

I guess I'll keep waiting.
I'm running my home rig on an Intel Mac Mini at now and it's working ok for the most part. It doesn't have enough Monitor support @3 display cap and get's a tad sluggish on big sessions but not enough to justify a stoopid expensive MacPro.

Got the M1 Mini + HDX running in the Avid thunderbolt rack and, while it took some serious head scratching to get it to recognise the card, I gotta say, it's running flawlessly so far - with the one exception being it kills the audio from the system when I boot PT - didn't used to do that - wonder what I'm doing wrong there.

Otherwise it's ridiculously powerful - some sessions are measuring 0 percent CPU during playback. Crazy.

I'm running HD Native so I think there's other conflicts.

Could you please give some more spec about the video files you are using?
Are these Pro Res?
How long is the video that take 70% of the RAM memory?

Thanx a lot
