install ALL Updated Versions of ProTools?
Hi!
I'm using LE 6.8.1 at the moment. Now I downloaded the updates 7.0, 7.1, 7.1_cs8 and 7.1_cs9 Do I have to install 7.0 first to install 7.1 update? And please can you step by step explaining the uninstall-install-thing. I heard a lot of people are getting into trouble forcing this issue. Thanks a lot for your help!

Re: install ALL Updated Versions of ProTools?
You have to install 7.0 first. Then 7.1, then the cs'. Don't know about those "problems", never had them. But yea, 7.0 is an upgrade (required for...) 7.1 is an update to that.

Re: install ALL Updated Versions of ProTools?
Here is what I put in a previous post.
It worked fine for me. The thing to remember is that the previous version must be installed when you first run the update. It will tell you that a previous version is installed and it needs to be uninstalled. At that point (again this is only after you try to run the update with a previous version still installed) you then uninstall PT only. You must then reboot. Now run the update again. This time it should install. You need to go through this for each version you are updating. For example (from 6.7 to 6.9) or (from 6.9 to 7.0) and finally (from 7.0 to 7.1). This is my experience only and it sounds like some of you are having a problem with this process. I hope it works for you. I just wanted to chime in to tell you that it does work for some of us and is not necessarily that it does not work for everybody. CS updates don't seem to require the uninstall step. Good Luck

Re: install ALL Updated Versions of ProTools?
yes 7.0 then 7.1 which sucks as the first thing the 7.1 install does is remove 7.0 and not that it takes very long but dowloading both isnt enjoyable. anyway the results are worth the minor annoyence.
do you have have to install Quicktime if your not doing video work? |

Re: install ALL Updated Versions of ProTools?
You can save a little time by not installing any plug-ins or Command 8 drivers until the last upgrade. I'm not sure about Quicktime but I installed it anyways.

Re: install ALL Updated Versions of ProTools?
You can install 7.1 by itself without needing 7.0 (or at least I was able to)
