PT 2021.7 & AAE-9178 error

Hello!

Just installed PT 2021.7 and got an AAE-9178 error as it tried to load the FM8 synth from Native Instruments' Komplete suite. Uninstalled FM8, PT loaded fine. All the other plugins from the suite load correctly. Reinstalled FM8, got the error again. Uninstalled FM8, all is well...

Any clues?

You are WAY under spec on this. Pro Tools says 16GB ram minimum, you’re at half the minimum. They also suggest an i7 (although some users are getting by just fine with an i5.)
A Google search says a 9173 error happens when you’re over-taxing the processor.

Yes, I saw about the RAM. Just strange that only one of the NI suite of plugins would create a problem. And it was a 9178 error, not the 9173. The former is way less documented. If this is a hardware problem, I will upgrade.

These NI Virtual Synths take a lot of CPU to work and loads into the RAM memory so I would ask on the NI bosrd first, then i would get atleast 2X16 GB ram sticks (have to be the same make and model) so you can get the system up to par. The i5 is not an issue here but i think there might be a comflict somewhere on the system. I loaded up the same synth on an older laptop we had in a closet with win 10 and 8 GB ram and it works perfectly so my guess is that either an older version is still on the harddrive or some other conflict. Maybe you need to reinstall the offending synth as it could become corrupt.

The synth loaded fine with the previous PT version. My computer was able to handle pretty big sessions with only 8 GB ram, so I will start by making sure the problem is not with the synth and then upgrade to 16 GB if necessary.
