Default Unity DS-1 and Latency... Anyone else feel the latency makes the Plugin unusable?

I decided to banish my MPC2000 for samples and sequencing.... So i xfered ALL my hundreds of drums samples digitally to Unity DS-1, thinking how cool it would be to have all my samples on the computer and not have to go to an outside box...

WRONG....

When I trigger Unity DS-1 from my kybd, the latency is sooo noticable and makes it hard to play along with the PT click... of course after i record i can shift the region earlier, but that stinks.. ANyone have any tips for latency lessening with DS-1 and PT and Direct Connect?

thanks
MT

Have you tried the newest DirectConnect from the download section? It lowers the latency quite a bit. http://download.digidesign.com/suppo...ect511_128.hqx

Also, absolutely STAY AWAY from the midi in Protools!!! The midi-slop in beyond understanding. (and no groove-templates.)

RE---QUOTE above

Do you mean just for drums...........I use the midi all the time now for sequencing and whilst not stupid ammounts of wonderfully useless things available to me, it nevertheless allows me access to all the things I want from a midi sequencer.

Unity DS-1 with Direct Connect is a PITA.

Bought Soft Sample Cell because I could no longer tolerate DS-1's problems.

My real SC card is best of this bunch, as one might expect, but Soft SC seems much more together than DS-1 with PT.

Hi- Does anyone hope that the Digi 'announcement' in the HTDM post signals some major improvement's going to happen on this issue before OSX kicks in?

I actually started replacing my MPC with reason. It programs differently but the latency is not a problem as you don't use Direct Connect

Just the web dude, so I can't answer the technical questions, but I can answer this one. It was posted in a few places:
http://duc.digidesign.com/cgi-bin/ub...&f=15&t=000047
http://www.digidesign.com/support/ho...html#dc511_128

Both point to the Support/Downloads/DirectConnect page with more information:
http://www.digidesign.com/download/dc.html

This page is also updated when there are new DirectConnect compatible applications released.
