Default 32 i/o interface (non-HD/HD Native)

How would a non-HD/non-HDNative user like myself take advantage of PT 9's new 32 i/o's? Can firewire do 32? I thought it was only 16.

I'm looking for an interface that is capable of atleast 16 in & 32 outs. Would the Lynx Aurora 16 give me that? If so, how? Would their LT-FW card allow me 32 i/o? http://www.lynxstudio.com/product_detail.asp?i=24

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Using the Aurora 16 in advanced rounting mode will give you 32 i/o,but it's 16 analog i/o and 16 digital i/o. You'd have to get 2 Aurora 16s.

There are options out there. RME RayDAT PCI card is a 32 i/o adat card. M-Audio has the Profire Lightbridge. It's also 32 channels of ADAT over FW. I've been looking around myself. On macs you can aggregate some interfaces also. So something like 2 Presonus Studiolive 16:2's would give you 32 i/o. Looks like the Lynx units might can do it with out having to be made into an aggregate device.:)

I find it interesting that in all these years, very few firewire or usb interfaces have gone beyond 16 or 18 in/out. It seems like any solutions made were like the Symphony system, where you link units together.

Now that Protools is opened up, maybe we'll see more interfaces with more I/O.
