Default How to blast a chorus !?!

Hi there,

One of my clients wants to do an audio trick that Garbage did on their song(don't know the name)

*When I grow up I'll be stable
When I'll grow up I'll turn the tables*

Its the way the chorus get maxed out...now I know it was most probably done on the L1+.

Does the threshold control act as the gain change ?

The Garbage song has a 12 db difference between the verse and the chorus (measured with Paz)and I've tried to emulate this in my clients song and obviously the vocal difference is too huge to be
usable.

How is this done ???

Does one make the vocal louder in the verse mix and then severely threshold the chorus...I notice that the last chorus starts to break up....something that is easily achieved in L1 + ;-)

Anybody with any ideas ??

Greatly appreciated

I don't know about garbage, but it looks to me as what you want to achieve should be done essentially at the mix stage, by setting the right levels and amount of compression and eventually automation on each individual track.
