separating 2 mono tracks from a stereo file
i've been sent an M4a file from a podcaster who wants me to edit out a 2 way conversation. These are 2 separate tracks the podcaster ha merged into one stereo channel. I want to split them into 2 mono tracks to treat their voices separately and it it is obviously not dual mono so i can't just drag them onto mono tracks.
Any ideas to split them into the original 2 tracks? I cant get a hold of the podcaster to send me 2 separate audio files.. would appreciate any help to solve my mystery. Thanks!

It is 2 tracks, 1 guy talking 1 woman talking, delivered to me i a stereo m4a file. They were 2 channels recorded from Skype, but he merged them into a single file. I just want to separate them into the 2 original tracks again...

The file should be converted to the session file format during import. Which format are you using?
Track (menu) > Split into mono. Doesn't that work?
