AFAIK, the iLok should allow 9 to run. Would it not make more sense to update the offending plugin?

If you do this>> don't forget to save all of your sessions to be opened in PT9 format.

What exact plug-ins are you having trouble with?

Tom and Dave:
Originally I was working with PT HD 8, then I upgraded to 10 trial, but found out that several plugs that I used to have in version 8 , doesn´t show in PT 10. The plugs that i need are TDM virtual instrumments like Virus indigo an others. I read that these instrumments are included in version 9.

Also, some PC genius told me that it´s not recommendable, to downgrade from version 10 to 9, because it won´t be a clean installation, and I could have many problems configuring the system, and I would have a poor performance.
He recommend me to do all the installation from scratch, including windows 7.
As you can understand, this is a big concern.

In your opinion can I just unistall PT 10, and then just install PT 9 without having to reformat my hard disk and reinstalling windows 7?

Thank you very much for your help¡

I have gone back on the same drive for testing purposes and it seemed to run fine. But if I were doing this for production purposes, i would go back from the appropriate back up drive image.

Tom: The situation is that PT 9 was never installed. I Installed pro tools 10 in a new hard drive, and now I want to uninstall PT 10 and then install in the same drive PT 9.

In your opinion is that going to be a mess?

Thank you

It may work out with a complete uninstall of PT 10. But if it were me, and if this is a production drive; i would install on a clean OS. If you do decide to try uninstalling PT10, I would also trash all plugins and associated Plug-in settings and reinstall them with the appropriate versions to try to avoid any potential Pace issues. I'm not sure how the new Pace will handle going backward like this. This may be some uncharted territory.

Thank you Tom.

I´m still deciding how to resolve this. But if I decide to downgrade to PT 9, I´ll do it the way you recommend, on a clean os.

Thanks again for your help ¡
