Virtual Instruments tracks not playing all the time?

Hi All

I have strange problem for a couple of weeks Virtual instruments in Protools session not play all the time they suddenly stop to play?

Im using a lot of VIs in real time and Vienna Ensemble Pro 7 (lattest version)
Monterey 12.6.1 And Protools 2022.10?

Anybody have the same issue What VI can produce this bug?

Falon with Ravensoft Piano in session, Vacum Pro,Vienna Ensemble pro with 2-3
Kontakt instances?

There are known issues with VIs losing MIDI input, and maybe more, that have been discussed on DUC. I have no idea about use with VEP. Do you have problems if the VIs are instantiated locally?

Yes Im loosing playback with internal VIs specially offen with Falcon and Ravensoft 275 piano. With Vacum Pro ...
Just to mention that VIs dont loose midi asigments just not playing
all the time randomly...

Im in process to find what can produce this.

Maybe check this compatibility chart and find out that your system is not qualified, and I don't know what are VEpro requirements. But as said, losing MIDI assignments (midi tracks greyed out on edit window) is what I was instantly thinking.

In Compatibility chart say Monterey 12.5.1 and Im on 12.6.1
With Protools 2022.10 ?

Yes, it means anything later than Monterey 12.5.1 has not been tested and Avid Support is not going to be very helpful if you contacted them.

Check if you have All Automation parameters enabled on those plugins. Seems like pro tools is sending some automation parameters to virtual instruments and they looose their mind (because the settings get all scrambled) The solution is to disable auto-arming of all parameters for every instatiated plug-in (in Preferences) or removing them manually. Happens for me with Stylus RMX, EW Opus.....

Sounds like I have a similar issue. The MIDI playback fails when the CPU gets circa above 50% usage (PT metering) on my system.

No solution save reducing CPU loading gets it going AOK.

I have been dealing with this for a couple of years off and on.
I have a tech support ticket and the engineers are working on it. This has been a known issue for a couple of years, but since no one started a ticket, they assumed that it wasn’t that big of a glitch. Well, it has put me dead in the water more than a few times. According to the person who emails me, the engineers are feverishly working on a fix.

Interesting post Jeff. Are the working on the issue of the MIDI playback stopping for no reason or else the MIDI track routing is lost on opening a Session?
