Default Avid plugins no joke

I am kinda new to all of this computer recording and sometimes I think that the plugins that came with PT's10 are not that good maybe because some look a little plain Jane so to speak. But I found this article about recording Lindsey Buckingham and the Fleetwood Mac folks kind of interesting. It is cool to see the way their engineer Mark Needham is recording them, and the tools he uses to get the sound he wants. And how he is using D-Verb and after going thru other more expensive reverbs he stuck with the DVerb sound..I'm sure he has a lot of equipment. There is a lot of info in this and I want to share it with you folks. They are a top band .I think this article centers and a project Lindsey did with Cathrine McVie and I think they used guess who?? for the drums and bass Mick and McVie.Don't ask me they are a wierd band...Hope you guys enjoy it...

Don't focus on how they "look", it's about how they "sound". I use Avid plugins quite a bit with good results.

If it works - why not? Sometimes you get used to a sound you might not have intended to keep...

Great article! (the Soundonsound one, I haven't read the second one you linked to yet). 189 tracks for one song? No wonder he mixes for 13 to 14 hours per day.

I love how Buckingham's gear is all real stock, Boss pedals, Fishman pickups--except for that one odd-looking guitar. I saw Fleetwood Mac in Berlin a couple years ago, and he slayed.

And yes the Avid in-house plugs are all very useful. Their channel strip is too small and cluttered for me--I've been using the Waves Schoeps for that, or the BX Console. But for specific tasks, especially the EQ and ModDelay for me are nice.

I know that is a lot of tracks for a simple rock song. They must be many vocal takes that they save and comp..Glad you liked the article..
