Glyph Hotswap Drives
I have the Glyph rack unit with 2 bays for removable drives. Because of cost I was wondering if I can just buy the rail kits myself. I can get 36 gig Cheetahs at a pretty good price.
Does anyone know where I can get the rail kits and are there any drawbacks to this over buying the drives from Glyph. Thanks for your feedback. --Gio |

Re: Glyph Hotswap Drives
What you need are Storcase DE-100 frame and carriers:
http://www.storcase.com/dexpress/de100.asp?ml=3 These are $100 each new, but I've found them for $20 on eBay. The only trick is getting the right model for your drives. The frames seem to all have 68-pin connectors. The carrier can have a 68 or 80 pin connector inside, depending on what your drive is. If your Cheetah model number ends in "LC", it's an 80-pin and you need the Storcase DE-100i-rsw carrier. If your Cheetah model number ends in "LW", it's a 68-pin and you need the DE100i-csw160. The Storcase page has all the info you need for choosing frames and carriers. Good luck, -jl |
