I would upgrade if it's possible $$ - I don't know those cards but I would have upgraded mine if I had to do it again -

Guys, is the first post of this thread the latest info for a PT10/11 rig build? I am looking at it and questioning it a little from the rigs shown as most recent (maybe I'm wrong though). Do we have that info somewhere else?

Windows 8 Professional

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated, particularly if you notice any potential issues of incompatibility.
drh1 is there anything in the above list that is not recommended for the PT10.3.7 ? I am building one myself but I will wait until next year for PT11. I am questioning the use of WIN8. I dont wonna learn yet another freaking OS :)

Also get a SATA- III DRIVES THEY ARE THE NEWER GENERATION

Seagate - WD - Toshiba - after the specs it all a matter of preference - I used WD from my first computer in 2001 to 2011 but then I found one very noisy but I had a Seagate in a Mac that I had bought that wasn't - so I bought another Seagate - I just got a Toshiba 1tb on sale from Micro center awhile back - $59
Hi, other than cost, is there a reason to go with a HDD for a PT10 rig?

Is there anyone who is willing to put together a rig for me for PT10 (going to 11 next year)? Looking for an honest deal.

I am fully capable of doing it myself, however I am trying to avoid the waste of time of researching and doing this and put that time into making music instead (plus the cost of the profit for the candidate). I am looking for the best balance between reliability, quiet(ness), power and price. In that order. PM me.

Is an additional video card need. The ASUS X79 ATX Deluxe LGA2011 DDR3 Motherboard states that it has one and on everyones list on this thread people are ordering a video card as well.

From the first page, this build represents a great build for today(or at least great suggestions). Probably the key parts here are: most any X79 motherboard(Asus and Gigabyte being the favs) and socket 2011 i7 6 core. Regarding RAM, since the X79 platform runs quad-channel, you want 4(or 8) matching sticks(which means 16, 32 or 64GB total-32 would be my recommendation). Buy a name brand PSU of 650 watts or better. If noise matters, look at the Antec P280 case

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit - OEM , used HDDs (from Q6600 build) and spare video card used to complete system
config'd to 4.0GHz...results...600 dverbs ((1024 buffer, 11 procs, 99%, 24/48 session) testing @12 procs 85% produced lower score)

Can I go X79 and find a way to have it Thunderbolt equipped now or in the future?

And yes, quiet operation is paramount as I do tracking vocals where the rig is placed. Can I do better than the Antec 280?
