Default PT11 on Windows 8 still only 4Gb of Ram recommended?

If I upgrade from 10 to 11 the spec page today still only recommends 4Gb of Ram but if it's 64 bit will it utilize 16Gb or 32Gb? What is optimum and what is redundancy? Specific concern is smooth operation with multiple virtual instruments.

PT11 will use as much RAM as you can throw at it.

Yeah, that will need to be updated. I have 16 GB in my dev PC, and I set Disk Cache to use 10 GB. You couldn't imagine my joy the first time I launched PT 11 on Win 7 64-bit, set the Disk Cache above 4GB and then opened the Task Manager to verify the RAM usage, and no little "*" next to the Pro Tools process!

See post NR3 on this page as Toontrack says they will release AAX 64bit following PT11 release so maybe within a few weeks from now.. Hopefully

I've been running PT10 on an ASUS laptop with Windows 7. I have a Toshiba laptop with the i7 3630QM processor running Windows 8. I would prefer to use the Toshiba for PT11 but I also need to know if Pro Tools 10 is able to run on Windows 8 now?

Actually, it says 4 GB RAM is required, not recommended...

http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...m-Requirements

boomsounddesign said, "PT11 will use as much RAM as you can throw at it."

However, that is not correct..."PT 11 can use as much RAM as you can throw at it" is correct.

If you have 128 GB of RAM and a session with just one track and no plugins it's a safe bet that PT 11 will not use all 128 GB.

But as a broad general rule, install as much RAM as either your motherboard can hold or as much as you can afford, and that should last you until next month...

11 is qualified and running good on W8.
10 is still not qualified on W8. I have it running but lots of others have had problems.
