S1 Faders not corresponding to Pro Tools Mixer

Dear Eddie,

I opened a case for the two faulty units.
Customer support told me, that they are just out of warranty and they can't replace them for free.
All four S1 have been replaced 2020 because of the knob touch problem. The last two units in Sept. and Okt.
I find it lame, not being fair to loyal customers, when there are obviously units with problems that rely on the quality.

Hi,

I'm experiencing some intermittent issues with the faders and encoders sensibility.
Sometimes the faders get stuck or try to fight with me where my levels are and sometimes Pro Tools don't recognize the automations at all.
I saw this post and did the test mode and sometimes got the same result;
the faders don't recognize the touch and others, as right now, is perfectly fine.

I don't know what this is, but I'm very saddened that an expensive product like this, specially in my country has so many cases like that.

These are Alps faders used extensively throughout the industry not just Avid. Faders being mechanical and open to the elements are suspectable to dirt going in the slot. It doesn't take much dust to cause issues like this. The dust sticks to the tracks and the contacts then lose connectivity. Dead skin from fingers and other dirt contribute too. Are these covered when not being used?

Yeah.
I cover it every night.
Specially when I know that will take some time to use it again.

What can we do? Swipe a brush in the opening of the faders?

Compressed air whilst moving them is the first thing to try.
