Default Issues in 7.4 - Allocation with Template???

Hello My Fellow Digi-ans... I think I might have noticed a bug and I was wondering if anyone has seen a problem similar.

I am the on staff computer technician here at Westlake in Los Angeles and I have noticed since going to 7.4 a larger number of sessions misplacing files as far as allocation is concerned.

Now granted this is something I've seen for a long time, but never in quite the number that I have seen recently. After trying to figure out why, I have noticed the constant that people with this problem are using a template to pull from and even though audio is not and has not been recorded to the previous session, the file allocation is automatically set to the main drive.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but i do remember in previous versions the allocation switching once imported into the working session if the other session is truely being treated as a template...?

Can someone verify this issue?

Oh... by the way... Our rigs are various versions of the G5... all running the 10.4.9 combo update... we have one Mac Pro running leopard at 7.4.2... this issue appears to be constant on all instances of 7.4

Hi,

I have eliminated all file loss problems by simply NOT using templates!

I always start from a new session on the audio drive (or any drive you want to allocate) then use import session data to grab what ever tracks/setup i want for each session! = no more lost files

Chris

Hey Chris-

Thanks for the input, this is actually what i meant by template in this manor... (essentially using import session date off of a blank session "template") this is when the issue occurs.

Thank you for clearing this up, my apologies for not phrasing this right.
