I hope this is allowed here, if not please remove my post.

Has there been a really clear official announcement by AVID they are not going to support the Eleven Rack on Catalina period?

If AVID is not going to support any new driver development for Catalina I wondering if we could get enough people interested to petition AVID to release the source for the last driver into the public domain. This way maybe some of us who come from the high tech world could pursue making a driver for Catalina.

Thoughts?

Hi all,

I was considering the purchase of an ElevenRack, and I'm fully realizing that it's quite a dated device by some standards - therefore it would be helpful to learn that regardless whatever Avid decides to do with the drivers for the interface, the editor can still work and communicate with the ElevenRack on a modern Mac running Catalina (and up).

That's the part of the puzzle I can't seem to find online anywhere. I hope someone will be able to shed some light on that.

Cheers,
Alchemist21

Hi there everyone,

It's clear that at the moment the ElevenRack doesn't work as an interface. But I was wondering if the Editor still works and communicates with the ElevenRack as it stands on Catalina? That's the part of the puzzle I can't seem to find anywhere online.

I'm looking to purchase one, and whilst I'm aware that the device is quite dated by now - it would be helpful to know that whatever Avid decides to do with the drivers for the interface, the device is still accessible by a modern Mac.

Thanks for your time, and I hope any of you could shed some light on this.

Cheers,
Alchemist21

I don't believe it will - the driver would be required for the Editor to see the device. But I don't have a Mac to test.

Just updated Catalina 10.15.4 & Editor Launched without the previous error message. I don't know why & haven't fully tested.

Anybody else?

Doesn't work with Catalina - guessing you updated your MacOS a week or so ago and didn't check here - read the sticky thread at the top of this section.

confirmed editor doesn't work in Catalina - if MacOS can't find Eleven Rack, then the Editor can't...

I actually started tweaking sounds using the front panel, and while a GUI is easier, the Eleven Rack is very simple to program - the thing that's a PITA is renaming patches, but small price to pay. Trying tape echo as a preamp in front of different amps vs. the distortion boxes, and may add some guitar cables to patch in pedals from my board into the insert...

Regardless of whether it ever is supported again, I'd grab one in a heartbeat. At this price, you're getting a lot of modeling power.

So what you are saying is that it DOES seem to work since you updated to 10.15.4?

The replies here are making it a bit confusing.

It launched and I was able to use it as editor tot he Rack Rig. I do not use it as an audio interface to record.

Sadly, as soon as I updated latest PT 2020.3 it again displays the same error about initializing the MIDI engine
