Default pullup confusion????

Hello All !!

Editor gave me a 24fps session OMF (which i used to create my PT session), Online was done at 23.976 fps. I did a pullup in my PT session, then sent them the file--no worries( back in sync on their end). I requested the Online version of the short so I could use it in my real (QT listed at 23.98). Now MY final mix stem is out of sync. For the purposes of my reel I can make it work BUT I'd still love some more clarity on why this is happening.

please let me know if this post doesn't make sense or is lacking info..

Sorry been trying to get my head around why adding a pullup to your session at 24 fps allowed it to run in sync with 23.976fps picture.

Should it not be a 0.1% Audio Pull Down?

I'm so new to pullup /pulldown I couldn't explain it at all...BUT when I sent them my mix it worked as far as I know. Maybe they did something else and didn't tell me.

So they Shot at Film Speed, edited at Film Speed, on-lined at Video Speed, you pulled up the mix to Video speed... When you got the Quicktime movie back at 23.976 from the on-line session, did you use the pulled up mix files or are you running the Video Speed movie inside your protools session that was setup for a Film Speed Movie?

cheers

I imported their QT movie and my pulled up mix file into a new session.. My pulled up mix file drifts out (later) after about 25 secs.

drifts out..later... Do you mean its' completely in sync for a period of time and then starts to drift, or you notice it around 25 seconds in. ( probably the latter)

if it's drifting, How much is it out at the end of the video? Is it drifting so that the audio is late or drifting so that the audio is early...

Sorry for all the questions, but there are a lot of things that can go wrong here.

cheers

If I line up both audio files, they're in sync until about 25 secs then then audio from their QT movie starts to "drift" later. So I have to cut my imported file and slide regions it over 2 or 3 frames to stay in sync.

I don't suppose it would be possible for you to post the files somewhere? I could pull them down and see what works?

Have an FTP site you could use if you'd like me to take a look.
