Default 8 Core Mac - 8 Core PC coming - Power Pro Tools!!

The 8 core Macs are alive: http://www.apple.com/macpro/

8 core PCs can now be configured and run as well:

Question... Would the whole latency issue be eliminated with Pro Tools LE running with 8 cores or even 4 cores?

You're talking about the buffer size settings or what? If so, I don't think so.

I'm not familiar with how latency works with plugins. Would more processing power eliminate latency issues with plugins in PT LE or would it just not matter if you were running an 8 core computer with PT LE?

They would need to add Direct Monitoring to eliminate latncy. With that said though, Iam sure you could get to 32 samples of latency, and that my friend is amazing. The average listner does not hear 64 samples, but 32 would be nice.

hello, me and many others here are running 4 core systems, and no is does not eliminate latency. i can track though at a buffer setting of 64 wich is great and allows us to track with plugs, and direct outs for headphones and little extras like that and not have to use "low latency monitoring" to track. they got some serious code writing and improvements to fix some of these issues, which hopefully they are at least thinking about. the machines can handle it, now it is up to the daw builders to make it happen!
