Tracking with Mbox Mini - preamp question
Hello All - I purchased an Mbox mini earlier this year, mostly to learn Pro Tools. So far it's been a lot of fun & I've learned a lot just tinkering around on it at home. Recently, my band has been on a creative roll & we've written a bunch of new songs that we would like to record. Usually we go to our friend's studio & get awesome results, but it is very expensive as you all know - we're really just looking for a decent quality demo for this first go-round - a preview of sorts before we spend big bucks in the studio. We have already talked to a pro sound guy who will be willing to record drum tracks for this demo over a weekend, after which we can track the guitar, bass, keys & voclas individually - we won't need more than 2 tracks, so the Mini should suffice, at least theoretically.
My question is, if I bought a preamp like the RNP or a digimax LE, would that enable me to bypass the Mini preamps for a slightly better sound? Or do I need to upgrade to another interface? Would the RNP or Digimax even work the Mini?
Thanks in advance ... Buzz
