Default Connecting 888/882-20/882

hello,

i am trying to setup an older PT system for a studio i work at and i seem to be having trouble getting PT to recognize all the i/o connected to it.

I am running PT 5.1 with a d24 and 2 DSP farm cards on a G4 with OS 9.2.1.

As PT was installing i choose the 882-20 as a i/o interface and those 8 i/o seem to work fine but i am not sure how to connect my remaining interfaces which are the 888 and the 882. Would it make sense to connect the 882-20 to the d24 and other interfaces to the farm cards?
or should i use the y cable to have 2 of the interfaces coming from the d24? seems like i tried almost all combinations and i still cannot get PT to recognize more then 8 i/o.

any help would be appreciated.

Derek

Default Re: Connecting 888/882-20/882

had a similar problem only yesterday (on a pc running 5.3.1),

here's how i resolved it (eventually!),

my existing setup was a d24 mix system :

1 d24 core card
2 dsp farm cards
1 mix farm

i already had 2 888/24's connected and yesterday tried to connect an extra 888/16 (original 888 interface),

eventually managed to get it working by connecting the two 888/24s to the d24 card (via Y cable),
and the 888/16 simply connected directly to the next available dsp farm card,

I would try connecting your 888 and 888/20 to your d24 card (via Y cable),
and your remaining 882 to your next available dsp farm card,

remember to select the correct interface types (in the hardware setup),
remember to join the word clock bnc cables accordingly ,

hope this helps!

ps, at some stage you may want to consider adding a mix farm card to your setup, it makes a huge difference,
