VST vs. TDM
hi...
My question is what is if there is any difference between VST and TDM (and we all know that TDM is NATIVE using PT DSP and VST is HOST using CPU) ... I'm asking becouse Dimond bundle VST is 3800$ plus 100$ for fxpansion and Dinomd bundle TDM is 7000$ so i'm thinking to buy VST becouse i already bought fxpansion... And it's cheaper a lot... pros & cons please !!! Samo |

Re: VST vs. TDM
The wrapper is very new and it might be a good idea to check if it works with the waves stuff first. Download the diamond bundle demo and try it, or just ask the guy in the shop if you can try it on their machine.

Re: VST vs. TDM
Waves offers two different bundles, Diamond TDM for $7000 list, and Diamond Native for $3800 list. The Native bundle has the RTAS, VST, and AU versions so you wouldn't even need to mess with the VST-RTAS adapter because you already have an RTAS version if you buy the Diamond Native. The problem you will run into on a TDM system is that you can't insert any of these plugins on an AUX track or a Master Fader. For me the plugins are almost useless if I can't use them wherever I need them. I would recommend going for the TDM bundle but are you really sure you need the Diamond. I think the Platinum bundle is enough and that would drop the price a lot for you. You will also get the best pricing on the Waves stuff if you order from Alto Music. http://www.altomusic.com

Re: VST vs. TDM
I think it depends on the plug-in manufacturer and whether or not they use the exact same code for the TDM and VST version. It's possible that some VST plug-ins are coded to use less processor so they will not sound as good as the same plug-in's TDM version.
In theory=yes, in practical use=maybe. |

Re: VST vs. TDM
Get the TDM. You won't be able to run that many host plugins on TDM system as you can on a 001. And you'll be dealing with the headaches of native plugins. You spent all this money on a TDM system, now use it! Which means buying the plugins that can run on it.
Also, Alto music has insane prices. Like at least 30% off waves list prices. |
