Default Export 24bit to 16bit

Is it possible to export, not bounce, my 24bit session to 16bit using ProTools LE?

The export option is grayed out and I've read about the "arguable" difference between exporting vs. bouncing.

Thanks -

Highlight the audio you want to export (not region) then export it. You will have the option for 16 bit and PTLE will dither it using the default ditherer.

Use the Export menu option in the Region List menu (not the File menu).

i would use "Save Session Copy In" and downsample your entire session that way. Then you would have a copy copy of the new 16bit session as well as the original 24bit one.

I tried highlighting the audio and the "Export Selected Tracks" to become functional.

I followed Rails advice and I pulled up the audio files on the top right of the layout.

For this basic test I recorded 12+ midi tracks and routed them to bus 15 and 16 on a stereo track and ouput to Analog 1-2.

I just made a basic two track recording, but in the regions view I see :

Audio 1_01 (Stereo)
Audio 1_02 (Stereo)
Audio 1_03 (Stereo)
Audio 1_04 (Stereo)
Audio 2_02 (Stereo)
Audio 2_03 (Stereo)

If I right-click on the audio (Heading) above these files, I get the option to Export selected as files.

Thanks for getting me this far.

The next questions is:

What is the best sound quality for export purposes. I guess my objective is to get it down to 16/44.1, but at what conversion quality? Is tweakhead that much superior?

Also - I'm thinking once I have my master track recorded - Final Master w/L2, etc. then I would export it this way as a .wav and burn from the exporeted .wav file and bypass the BTD process.

OR do I import my new 16/44.1 file to a new session and further refine or really finalize it in this stage?

PROS/CONS ?

Thanks for your help! This has been very beneficial.....some of this stuff isn't covered in the manual.

Because the 002R doesn't have word clock, would I be wasting my money with a Big Ben?
