Default 8.0.3 = Tons of Static

Windows XP
192 I/O

Just installed 8.0.3, because 8.0.1 was having funky CPU issues on a large session. Now all of my audio tracks in every session randomly have massive amounts (over 0db) of static scrolling through every channel. I deleted pref's and everything and its still happening. If I mute all the channels it still happens but you dont hear it (u see it). WOW. Really crappy. Now I get to spend hours trying to figure it out when I have a session to complete.

.....At a stand still. Any ideas?

Can you back up to the previous version so you can finish your project?

I was having the same problem with my laptop only. My desktop worked fine.
After doing some reading, I found out that PT requires a 7200 RPM or faster hard drive.
After upgrading my drive, I no longer had any static. All the playback errors I was reveiving went away.
Check your drive spec's. Maybe this will fix your issues as well.
Good luck.

Still havent been able to fix this. Downgraded back to 8.0.1. Still doing it, I cant risk deleteing all my plugins and trying again. Thanks for screwing me digi! Spend lots of money and get worthless updates.

In order to go back to 8.01, you will have to go back to a previous image (I hope you have one) or you will have to reinstall your OS. 8.03 does something that can not be undone just by uninstalling PT. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

This may or may not help but I was having this problem and I went nuts for 2 weeks trying to fix it. Here's what I did:

Searched here!
searched M-audio (I use a profire 2626 with M-Powered)
did a support email to digi, several emails back but didn't have any real info other than the usual read this check that.

THEN........
I was using a wd caviar black 7200RPM 320 gig internal HDD, sata
and also every now and then a eSATA with a wd caviar black 7200RPM 1TB drive in it.

Believe it or not when I took the drive off of eSATA and mounted it internal all the static problems went away

Like I said it's my story and i'm sticking to it.
But you should try sessions on different drives. Take good sessions and copy them to your reg drive and try to recreate it, that's how I found out it was the eSATA controller.

That's My 84 cents

I know this is not believable but, part of the path to stabilize this system was a WD Black for the system drive.

Digi,
Is there a way we can consoldate all of these White Noise Burst posts into a common thread where we can all try and figure it out? At the moment they are scattered all over the DUC.

My problem wasn'treally the drive more the esata controller I think although my wd drives seem to take extra time to analyze audio after each recorded pass.
