PCI card causes freeze on Windows XP PRO SP2 w/ PT LE 6.4

Hi,

I hope someone can help me. I have been trying to install the Pro Tools system with Digi 001 on my very new and very capable Dell desktop for the past 2 weeks. (I got the Pro Tools 6.4/Digi001 from a friend who it worked fine for). I know the digidesign site doesn't guarantee this type of configuration to work, but it appears that others have gotten it to.

The first/ main problem is whenever I put the PCI card in, my compueter says its 'unknown' in the setup area that lists all the PCI slots. When it boots and launches the desktop screen, it freezes very shortly after and I have to shut it down manually and take the card out to get it to work. I have tried trading slots with the modem PCI card but that doesn't help either. So I have no way of installing the hardware and subsequently the drivers for it.

I have disabled the network adapters in the Device Manager. I have looked into the recommended optimizations. I have read through a ton of stuff on digidisign.com. I don't really know what next to do. I'm new to it all, any help or recommendations? Thanks!
