Default has any tried this 2 slot Magma PCI to PCIe?

http://www.magma.com/2slot.asp

I know it's not Avid Approved, but curious if anyone out there is using one?
Is the (64-bit/33MHz) a problem?

Thanks for any info.

Question Re: has any tried this 2 slot Magma PCI to PCIe?

Tony Cariddi of Avid wrote this on the GS site.....

"Avid tests and fully supports the Magma 6-slot PE-6R4."

wow, such a nice simple question, he is obviously asking specifically about a unqualified unit that may work and simply looking for an intelligent answer.

i'm sure i've seen some posts with users of the 2 slot saying it works but has a little bit of latency ... i've never used the new systems but perhaps someone who actually has a setup with a 2 slot can post their thoughts?

as an asider why dont you ring magma and ask them if they can send you a model they have sold to others in similar situations that they believe works on the basis that if it doesnt you can return it or swap for the pe6r4 perhaps ?

good luck!

I have spoken with people who use this setup with a Macbook pro 17" Unibody and the Cardbus 34 adapter HD2 on a new CB264 - 2 Slot PCI expansion system. It works. According to Magma it should work with the PCIe host card as well.

Magma has a 30 day return policy so you could always take it for a test run and see how your sessions work with it.

(If you are buying one of these systems used make sure you contact Magma support and make sure that it is a new enough hardware rev to support it)

cool -- I left a message with Magma today -- I'd love to keep it simple with the 2 slot for my HD2! (hopefully less fan noise then the pe6r4)
