Pro Tools 9 and auto Delay Compensation problem
I have encountered something strange that may be a bug. Can someone please recreate this and check that is indeed a bug ?
I use Mac OS 10.6.2 with Digi 003 Rack hardware and ProTools 9.0.2 I have my project at 1024H/W Buffer and Delay compensation engine at Long, and using 2 channels. One of the channels has an insert effect. The auto delay compensation correctly calculates the delay (1024). When I click Bypass on my plugin, the delay stays the same and doesn't recalculate. On the other hand when using 512 buffer for the same project clicking bypass on an insert effect does recalculates the delay compensation. I have big projects and I have to use 1024 buffer but when I need to bypass an effect I get a headache. I have only noticed this when using 1024 buffer on my project. Any ideas ? Does anybody else has this problem ? |

Re: Pro Tools 9 and auto Delay Compensation problem
Regardless of buffer size, bypassing a plug-in does not make the latency go away. To do that you need to make the plug-in inactive.
Hope this helps, Greg

Re: Pro Tools 9 and auto Delay Compensation problem
Hi Greg
I'm sorry Maybe I made a mistake in wording. When I click Bypass on my plugin the ADC doesn't work and i hear the delay This problem occurs only when set the H/W Buffer Size to 1024 samples. If you set the Buffer size to 32, 64, 128, 256, 512 samples the ADC it works great with 4 effects in one channel (bypassing or not) |

Re: Pro Tools 9 and auto Delay Compensation problem
If I understand correctly.. it has nothing to do with your plugs. When you set your buffer to 1024 you are going to hear the latency when you record something... It's there at the other buffer settings as well but maybe not that noticeable to you. When you record something, set your buffer to a lower setting and see if that helps..
Buffer is different to the latency produced by plugs.. they can both conspire against you, but each are handled differently. I try to record at 32 or 64, then mix at 1024 with ADC.

Re: Pro Tools 9 and auto Delay Compensation problem
i have solved this problem.
It is not a Pro tools ADC bug. This is a problem with some plugins which exist and in other Daw. Thanks for your help. |
