001 or 2408 & midi time pc
I'm starting from scratch. Right now I have a Roland VS1680HD and I can't decide if I should go to a 001 or another i/o interface such as 2408 ,perhaps Logic Platium etc. I do not plan on doing anything other than audio recording with a few things like a sampler a drum machine, and keyboard. Should I spend the extra cash now or would I be satisfied with 001. I saw the video Digidesign released on the 001 and was really impressed. I am not a egg-head when it comes to using complex programing tools. The 001 looks easy to get right to work.

Re: 001 or 2408 & midi time pc
I picked up my 001 on Friday. Very cool.
No major problems, though I'm on a G4/450 and I occasionally have gotten a bus error. Of course, this computer is not officially supported. Since the new 001 is host-dependent, make sure you have a good computer that you're working on, otherwise, you won't be able to do as many tracks or use as many plugins. This, timecode, and better hardware are the major reasons to go to the full system. It sounds great, imo. I haven't yet tried to use the midi functions, but 5.0 (LE) sure is nice. Good luck. Kevin |
