Anyway, for anyone else having trouble with the video engine, just get this.

Yeah!! After loosing a whole day of research and uninstalling and reinstalling a newer version of PT without success I finally FOUND THE SOLUTION:
It was my Firewall that blocked certain (local) IP addresses. Giving Pro Tools full network access solved the problem immediately.
