Default Quick question on the "Identify beat" option

I am very new to PT and was wondering if and how I can divide my bpm by 2 on a selected track. For example I was redoing "Hey you" by the floyd and realized it was way too fast compared to the record. Well I used the identify beat option and it stated that I was in the realm of 231 bpm! Ok it didn't seem like I played it that fast, but can I just click on the recorded region and somehow change it to 115 bpm? Thanks fellas.

Even 115 sounds too fast... It's one of those Floyd Funeral Dirges...

I did a search for the bpm on the net and they said 59 for the song. So I made a simple drum track at that rate. Well I tried and tried and couldn't pull off a clean record at that slow of a speed and found out that I could only do it right quicker. So I did it "a liitle" faster and the damn beat detector said it was 230 or something. Trust me 4x faster would be tough to play. So anyway can I slow it down with a few clicks of the mouse?

I suspect you are not using Identify beat correctly...

You need to have you selection accurately happen on the beat (test it with loop play... does it loop properly?)

You also need to enter the bar and beat info correctly:

I just analyzed the first section of Hey You.

The guitar starts on 1 | 1 | 000

The vocals start just prior to 9 | 1 | 000 ("you" occurs on the beat)

The meter is 4/4

The identify beat analysis = 56 bpm

If you analyze the whole song, you're going to have count the beats correctly.

As far as changing the tempo afterwards, if you are recording MIDI all you need to do is change the tempo. Any tick based track will adjust it's objects relative position based on the tempo.

If you're recording audio, then things are much more complicated...
