You said your laptop does not have a firewire port? I'm a little confused as to what you bought; a firewire/USB hub? how are you hooking that to the laptop if you don't have a firewire interface?

Pro Tools does not support external USB drives.

okay this is how I have everything set-up...

I have my MPC and fnatom and triton going into my alesis mixer.
I have my mixer bable outputs running into my MBOX (no problem there)
I have my MBOX running into my USB/Firewire HUB by USB connection.
I also have my external hardrive running into my Hub (I use my external hardrive for my audio)
I have my HUB running into my laptop (USB)

My laptop doesnt have a firewire connection and only one USB port.

I have Pro Tools on my C drive

I checked the digidesign site and this is the answers they gave me for that DAE-87 error.

Quote:
This is a SCSI transfer rate error. Typical casues:

- Drives are too full or fragmented.
- Attempting to play 24-bit from an IDE drive.
My drives arent fragmented and I dont know what the rest of this means..

get some other USB-port somehow. PMCIA-card or base-station stuff. I think you get that message because the USB port is too busy with the mbox and the harddisk at the same time....
