Default New MIDI tracks default 'volume' always at 96

New MIDI tracks in Pro Tools 10 are always created with a "volume" level of 96 (which is actually MIDI velocity level). And if I save and close my template session with the MIDI tracks set to 127, it opens/creates new sessions with them at 96.

Anyone know how to make Pro Tools default "volume" (velocity) for *new* MIDI tracks 127 instead of 96?

Can't be done. Actually it's safer on one's ears for the levels to not be at max as a default. It would be nice if one could set the default level but can't be changed. I never use session templates. Unless you actually save the changes to your template itself (not the session created from said template) the next time you use said template it'll be what was there originally.

Okay. Thank you for the response.

Just FYI, normally this isn't an issue when using instrument tracks. However, when using a MIDI track to control an external synth that doesn't have the most ideal output level, I find myself adjusting the MIDI track volume up to the max 127 fairly often.

Be careful doing that so you don't overdrive your interface's front end. Like I said it's safer to have the levels lower so you don't get your ears blasted and blown out.
