10.1.2/10.1.3 crashes when changing Playback Engine settings
Just updated to 10.1.2 and I'm having some of the same issues as these people:
http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=321084 In addition to the constant crashing when changing the H/W buffer size, PT also crashes when selecting or deselecting the Host Engine and changing the Delay Compensation Engine. Just for sh*ts & giggles, I trashed the PT prefs, etc... and removed EVERY plug-in from both the AAX and RTAS folders. Same results... Dead in the water! Also, I now have an AAX plug-in called "Mixer" installed in the AAX folder. From what I understand, this plug-in is for HDX systems. So why is it getting installed on a native system? And why doesn't the installer remove the RTAS plug-ins that are getting replaced by the AAX versions? It's very confusing. PT is now completely unstable & unusable! Who beta tests these updates? Seems like we do! I've been using Pro Tools since its inception and this is by far, one of the worst updates I've ever seen! "Game Changer".... It most certainly is! I'm completely disgusted! --------------------------------------- MacBook Pro 17-inch (Early 2011), 2.2 GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, 8GB SDRAM, 500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 RPM, Lion 10.7.3, Pro Tools 10.1.2 Last edited by DigiTechSupt; 04-28-2012 at 12:36 PM. Re: 10.1.2 Update = Complete Disgust!
There's AAX for DSP and AAX for native.
The Mixer-plugin you talk about runs on PT Native.

Re: 10.1.2 Update = Complete Disgust!
If you move out the .dpm like versions. (Like I did) I lost some compatibility in HD-TDM sessions.
There may be other reasons so I just put the .dpm's back. As PT's 10 is an interim application to 11 there's bound to be some overlap. Regarding mixers. is the AAX Mixer both surround and stereo?

Re: 10.1.2 Update = Complete Disgust!
This new "update" completely crashed my entire PT! This is not acceptable. Also, I've been on hold to CUSTOMER SERVICE for over 2 hours and it appears that they've just shut off their phones because they just hung up on me and when I tried calling back it's dead silence, no ring, no prompt, NOTHING! NICE GOING AVID!

UPDATE 4/27/12: Your support case shows you had installation/authorization issues, not buffer errors or crashing when changing Engine settings. The case also shows that with assistance from Tech Support on 4/24 you have everything installed and running properly. |

As far as "I've been on hold to CUSTOMER SERVICE for over 2 hours and it appears that they've just shut off their phones because they just hung up on me and when I tried calling back it's dead silence" Been there, done that! I would have called after this 10.1.2 debacle but alas, I had already used up that "one" very generous phone call (sounds a lot like jail, doesn't it?) that AVID gives out when I first installed 10 and it turned out to be a bug! I was never credited (given back) that "one" phone call either! Kudos AVID! Last edited by DigiTechSupt; 04-26-2012 at 12:26 AM. Reason: We have asked CS to send a replacement ASC to you. |

Re: 10.1.2 Update = Complete Disgust!
See, this is the confusing part... I was told when I was checking out an AAX plug-in from PSP Audio (I was having some problems with their new AAX version of 608MD) that they spoke to someone @ AVID and they had told PSP that it is not good to have both the AAX and RTAS versions of these plug-ins installed (this includes AVID'S plugs as well) in the plug-ins folder.
Last edited by DigiTechSupt; 04-25-2012 at 04:42 PM. Reason: There is no reason to remove DPM plug-ins when corresponding AAX plug-ins are installed. |

Re: 10.1.2 Update = Complete Disgust!
Sorry, but from the info I gathered, this is an AAX HDX plug-in only.
