MTRX capability

Recording an event shortly and I have access to an MTRX with 2 additional MADI cards with Single mode SFPs installed, and an additional Digilink option. If I add a another digilink (total 6 digilink ports) and another dual MADI (with a Multimode 850 nm SFP because thats all I could get) is there any reason I cannot route any input to any of the available 192 digilink slots? Is my routing and connectivity limited in any way? Will it work?

2 Additional DigiLink expansion cards will give you a total of 192 channels of IO - which would need to be connected to an HDX3 system to funnel those channels into Pro Tools.

Each MADI expansion card can accommodate 128 channels of audio at 48k, assuming 2 SFPs are loaded per card. With 3 MADI cards, you will be able to input 384 channels. If you populate 3 MADI cards with only 1 SFP per - you would be capable of 192 channels -> which could then be patched to DigiLink to feed into Pro Tools via the HDX3 engine.

Thanks a ton Jeff - can those MADI cards be a mix of SFP's? Or do they all need to be the same type?

SFP's can be mixed. You can go half optical half coaxial for example on the same card. If optical, make sure you are matching the format based on the gear you are expecting to connect to.

problem is we have 2 dual Madi cards populated with single mode SFP's but I can't find any more for a 3rd. Only got a few days to work that out .. any ideas where I might track them down? All the dealers I have checked do not have them

According to Westlake Pro's website it looks like they have SFP's in stock. I would start there.
