Default MTRX Studio and DANTE virtual sound card

Hi all! first of all hope you are all fine!

Im using a new MTRX Studio with PT2020 and DAPS with any problem.

The only problem Im finding right now is that I cannot connect DVS and MTRX Studio.

Im finding clock problems in Dante Controller (witch I think is what im doing wrong!)

Attached some captures from DADMAN and DVS&Dante Controller.

Im trying to get the audio from my Mac into Pro tools Input 5&6 and also into a new Dante LR source in DADman, but im having no luck....

At the very beginning it worked! but it was only the first time.... no luck during these weeks!

Thanks for the support, Alvaro

Don't you have to use Dante Via for such purposes?

Are you running Catalina? Which Mac Pro?

And via what network connection are you sending DVS over?

No, the MTRX is a Dante hardware device, so he’s using DVS to run out a network port to a switch, then into the MTRX through the dante network, and into Pro Tools through mini digilink.

Has anyone had success with DVS and DADman on a Mac with Catalina and separate Thunderbolt connection yet? I keep looking for resolution on seeing having it come into DADman for playback sources (iTunes, SoundCloud, YouTube, etc). It seems to have issues getting clocking reference which I haven't resolved.
DADman and MTRX St Sync source set to Word Clock (whole production house is clocked to a centralized house source). The only time I get audio is when the Enable Sync to External tik box is unchecked and for a brief moment it comes in but goes away once it reverts back.
DADman/MTRX is on one network port from a Dante switch with it's IP, the Mac is connected to the same switch on one of it's two Ethernet connections with it's assigned IP (the other is used for the S6) and DVS is directed to the Thunderbolt port with it's own IP. (tried both the two internal ports and a Thunderbolt to RJ-45 adaptor). All on the same subnet as the rest.
When viewing the device (Mac Pro via DVS) in Dante Controller, I see no device details in Device View or on the Device Info tab.

A screendump of the Device info, Clock status and Network status tabs in Dante Controller would help a lot with the troubleshooting.

And also a screendump of the sync section in DADman.

Greetings Jan,

Thanks for the reply.
I'm attaching requested screenshots for review. Let me know if more is needed.

Some notes:
The devices in question are listed as "AudioEdit1s-Mac-Pro" and "AE1-MTRXst"
The IP information is blocked but all devices are on the same subnet, matching first three octets and assigned manually on our own network separate from other house LANs.
The Latency alerts shown are for devices in other suites that need some of their feeds set to Multi-Cast which I'm working on.

Any assistance will be helpful.

Hi Doug,

Thanks for the screendumps, that definitely gave some clues. I think you forgot to upload the Network Status tab but hopefully we can get it sorted out anyway.

First thing I suggest you try is to set one of the MTRX Studio to sync to Dante instead of Word clock. I am 99.99% sure that will solve the problem.

If that does solve the problem, then have a look at the D21m which is your Dante clock master and make sure it is actually locked to the house clock. I suspect that this is not locked to the house clock. The indication of "External Sync" in Dante Controller only means the Dante interface receives its clock from the device it is installed in, and not that the device itself is sync'ed to an external clock.

And finally I strongly recommend that you uncheck the "Preferred Master" for the device named Artist-Node-1-Bay-5. This device is not set to "External sync" so if it gets elected as clock master then your whole Dante network will be running on its own clock and not locked to the house clock.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,
Jan

Jan,

Thanks for your reply and the info.

Concerning the switching DADman to sync source from Dante, this had been tried with no change.
Your responses though made me rethink connectivity and I did discover an issue from the main Dante switch being used and a local hub switch.
The MTRX St, Mac Pro DADman port and the Thunderbolt to ethernet adaptor that the DVS is running through on the Mac Pro are now all on the local hub and passing audio. Reconnected to main switch and I now have the rest of the Dante network available.
There are other Latency Errors to work out on the rest of the rooms but this solved my initial issue.
Thanks for the input.
