Default New User:help with expression pedal volume

Hi Everyone,
I am new to the forum. I just got an 11 rack and am trying to setup a very simple thing. Simply to use a roland Ev-5 to control volume. It is working on the wah, but I don't use wah. I want to use it as a volume pedal after the amp and before the reverb, delay.
I calibrated the pedal, made sure that the volume block was not bypassed. Any ideas on the missing link? The 11r does not seem to be "seeing" the ev-5 for volume.
Thanks a lot!!

I don't think I've every used a standalone expression pedal with the 11R, just a full MIDI controller with 2 included pedals, so I may be wrong about this, but did you choose for the pedal to control Volume?

In the 11R on-screen editor you should be able to choose Volume from the drop down. You could also choose Multi and set the Volume + other functions to happen at the same time.

I'll have to look at the manual since I don't use the 11R this way.

Thanks for the response,
I don't have the editor set up with protools, so I am going all "onscreen" I am having a tough time finding where you can select volume. I have looking around, but perhaps it is in a sub menu that I have not discovered

OK, so check the 11R manual, page 20, that should answer your question.

If you want to do this from the 11R front panel, after you have held EDIT/BACK and gone to External Pedal and setup your pedal to Expression and I assume EV/FV series

got back to your rig, this time just press Edit/Back (don't hold) scroll all the way to the end. Choose PEDAL and under FUNCTION choose what you want to use, since you want the volume pedal, choose Volume, if you want the whole rig volume you could choose that as well, or even choose Multi-FX.

You can do this a bit easier with the on-screen editor
Attachment 806

or setup the volume pedal with other actions in Multi-FX using the editor

Great info, thank you! I will check that and get back to the forum in a while. I love the way this unit sounds, I can't wait to get it on a gig!

I think the 11R manual gets placed on your hard drive when you install PT still, but in case it does not, you can download it here
http://akmedia.digidesign.com/suppor...v90x_71670.pdf

Just go to page 20-23

Does the 11R still come with a paper manual when you buy it new? Mine did but the manual is the old 8.0.1 version, in that manual turn to page 16-18, but the .PDF manual is better because it has pictures.

It worked! Thank you very much! I did not realize that you had to scroll all the way to the end of the rig. It works perfectly now, and so easy to do when you know how.
Thanks again for the help and knowledge!

Glad it worked. Be sure to look through the rest of the manual when you get a chance. There is lots of info in there that will help you understand how the menus work and exactly where everything is. There are also plenty of tutorials on YouTube.
