Default Editing Bugs

I currently run PT 5.01 on a G4 400(AGP) with a Dual Atto Mix system..OS 9.0.4 320meg of ram..Aurora Fuse..
Im finding in some sessions that contain QT movies that my edits are getting a little bizarre..If I select an area of a region and hit delete, the whole file will go! regardless of the selection area. I have no such problems when using the cropping tool, and a quit and reopen of the session will cure it. But it does get annoying, especially with the client breathing down my neck. Im wondering if anyone else has suffered the same problems...Thanks in advance
