Default Duplicate Audio Bug?

When selecting audio and duplicating, after a few instances the regions start to slip a few samples off the grid, in a pretty random manner.
I consulted the manual which advises not to double click with selector and to just click and drag. I did this and tried all other methods off selecting a region but still have the same issue.

It can get to be up to 30 samples off, but normally less than 10, which although negligible in terms of timing creates problems when then selecting regions on the grid, as extra regions keep getting created.

Anyone had same thing happen or can shed light.

thanks

Hi,

What you are experiencing is sample rounding. this will happen when using the duplicate function! you can use quantise to grid to sit them back where they should be or copy them manually one at a time or get 8 bars exact and copy that over manually.

I thought tick based tracks would cure this? but it doesn't seem to make any difference, it also depends what the tempo of the track is! 120bpm works ok, so make sure all your songs are at 120bpm

Chris

if u wanna avoid sample rounding then the only way is to use the Loop Region function. Using duplicate of repeat - and then quantizing to grid will still make funny stuff

Thanks for the help!

I tried a few things and it seems...

- loop region does not appear to solve the issue - it has same effect as duplicate region or repeat region
- 120 does indeed work perfectly! so no tricky decisions on tempos for tunes from now on
- quantize to grid works pretty good - still leaves some space AFTER the region sometimes, but does put the starts right on.
- getting 8 bars tight and copying still not ideal as rounding occurs in the copied 8 bars
- good old copy and paste works fine, but is too time consuming

it is a shame tick based tracks does not help
