Smile ...some basic questions needing basic answers

somebody or everyone out there, hi!

i'm a novice and a new user, and i need some answers:

a) i bought an mbox2 for my pt le8 configuration and it came with a dvd 'audio loops and sounds'. must i install this into my imac h/d or external h/d? if so, how do i do that? or is this dvd intended only for importing loops and sounds during a session?

b) the setup guide (mbox2) on the use of s/pdif i/o ports at the back panel is not very clear. are these two(2) ports mono ports(2-mono's) which can be used for output or input? or a single stereo port(l/r) which can be used for stereo output or input?

would be grateful for your help.
